Healthy Eating at Heights Delights
We encourage healthy eating here at College and our lunch menus are varied and offer a breadth of choice so that every student can enjoy either a hot lunch or a sandwich in Heights Delights – our purpose-built dining area with views over Pendle and the surrounding countryside. When the weather permits, outdoor seating is also available for alfresco dining.
Choice A Plenty
Hot meals are available at the Heights Delights Servery. The menus follow a 3 week cycle and are displayed in the Dining Area and are also available to view online here. The menus undergo a complete revision each term to ensure variety.
In addition to this, a wide selection of sandwiches, fruit, yogurts, biscuits and chilled drinks is also available to students at break times and at lunchtimes.
In a hurry? Grab Bags include a sandwich, salad bag, biscuit, yogurt or a piece of fruit, and a drink. Students can grab these quickly from the chilled serving point without the need to wait in the queue.
We’re open from 8am each day serving a variety of cereals, hot toast, fruit etc.
Of course if students prefer to bring their own packed lunch that’s absolutely fine too. A healthy packed lunch should contain:
- Starchy foods – bread, rice, potatoes, pasta
- Protein foods – meat, fish, eggs, beans
- Dairy- cheese, yoghurt
- Vegetables or salad
- Cashless Catering System
Our cashless catering system allows us to record and monitor all food items chosen and also reduces queuing times.
Those entitled to free school meals will have their allowance automatically added to their account daily. The system protects the identity of pupils on free school meals. For those not entitled to free school meals, cash is simply added to accounts via the Cash Loaders situated on levels 1 & 2 and reports can be produced to inform parents of account balances, transactions and food choices.
The fabulous catering facilities here at the College are provided by Lancashire County Commercial Group and more information, including College Menus are available at servinglancashire.org.uk
