GCSE Child Development

COURSE CONTENT

The Course covers the development of children from conception to age five,
Developing knowledge and understanding in all aspects of Child Development

ASSESSMENT—3 units:

  1. Child Development Short Tasks: Three short investigations demonstrating
    Practical skills and knowledge (controlled assessment 30%)
  2. A child Study: An individual study of a child aged 0-5 years
    (Controlled assessment 30%)
  3. Principles of Child Development: 1 1/2 hour external exam on family, Parenting, pregnancy, birth, nutrition, health, development & community support. (40%)

SKILLS NEEDED FOR SUCCESS

Students will develop their ability to plan and present a series of investigations. They will be asked to evaluate evidence and make reasoned judgements. Students will use ICT and be involved in discussions with a wide range of external Health Professionals.
