GCSE Health & Social Care – Double Award
Two GCSEs A*-G
This course investigates the Early Years services for children and promoting Health & Wellbeing of an individual. Learners will also study ‘Understanding Personal Development’ and Human Relationships. The final unit looks at Safeguarding and Protecting Individuals
The double GCSE splits into two external exams and two controlled assessments. Students will sit the exams at the end of Year 11 and the assessments are completed in college under strict conditions in class so attendance to lessons is of paramount importance.
SKILLS NEEDED FOR SUCCESS
The nature of the subject develops learners’ people skills—both working as a team but also developing their understanding of other peoples’ needs and wants. The course develops learners’ problem solving abilities and uses ICT throughout. Students need to be able to think for themselves and work independently to complete controlled assessment tasks. An ability to carry out detailed research would be an advantage for this course.
