Psychology is the study of the brain. It looks at how the brain works and how it affects our behaviour. The things we look at are how we remember things, what makes some people commit crime, why are some people more prejudiced than others.
The units that will be covered include memory, learning, aggression , sex and gender, the development of personality and non-verbal communication.
It is a very interesting course that allows you to explore the subject by carrying out your own research and experiments as well as looking at many psychological studies.
Psychology will be assessed by 2 exams. Each exam is worth 50%. There is no coursework or controlled assessment for this subject.
SKILLS NEEDED FOR SUCCESS
A successful student will have good literacy skills and be motivated to learn and ask questions. An interest in science and experiments will also help.

Psychology has a whole host of career links from science to working in the police. Students could continue to a level and degree in this subject.
