Edge Hill University

Our Programme offers QTS, PGCE and 30% of an MA. This experienced partnership identifies potentially outstanding teachers, focuses on their personal, intellectual and professional development and provides challenging, stimulating, inspirational, personalized training across Pennine Lancashire. The Programme’s scope, with its Minor Specialisms in SEND and Behaviour Management and which includes sixth form experience and training in a range of settings, is designed to produce outstanding teachers for the 21st Century.

Alder Grange School and Sixth Form

Alder Grange School and Sixth Form has been a lead school with Edge Hill’s ITT provision for some years. It is habitually engaged in:

  • PGCE training
  • School Direct students
  • Offering short term placements, work experience and role sampling
  • Lead school on Tomorrow’s Teachers project.

The Hollins Technology College

Hollins Technology College has been a regular partner with Edge Hill’s and MMU’s ITT provision for some years and is habitually engaged in:

  • PGCE (averaging 8/9 per year but with 16 in 2012-13);
  • Short term placements;
  • Work experience and role sampling.

Ribblesdale High School

Ribblesdale School has a long-standing engagement in ITTE:

  • Experience with a variety of HEI partners;
  • Work experience and pre application experience
  • Providing training places across the curriculum;
  • Numerous, very experienced subject mentors/coaches;
  • A well-equipped school in a semi-rural area serving a geographical setting different from others in the SCITT partnership, offering valuable contrasting experiences.

Marsden Heights Community College

Marsden Heights has a long established partnership with Edge Hill and other HEI providers and has hosted:

  • PGCE students (10 per year)
  • GRTP (1 every 2 years)
  • Undergraduate placements
  • Staff involved in interviewing for PGCE with EHU
  • Work experience and pre application experience

Other activities include:

  • Assistant Head teacher seconded to support Teaching and Learning in Secondary Schools across Lancashire
  • Head teacher is a Trainee Monitoring and Intervention (MIT) advisor
